Skin
is an intense black woman from Brixton sporting a shaved head and
powerhouse set of pipes. Set to squealing, no-frills, combat-boot rock
with a power funk edge, her lyrics advance a strong social agenda,
spelled out in bold capitals by such polemical song titles as
"Intellectualize My Blackness," "Little Baby Swastikkka," and "It Takes
Blood & Guts to Be This Cool but I'm Still Just a Cliche." The minor
downside is that no matter how strongly you agree with the agenda, the

The
second offering from aggro-political rockers Skunk Anansie finds
producer Garth Richardson (L7, Rage Against the Machine) at the helm.
Frontwoman Skin's vocals grab the listener by the scruff of the neck and
demand attention. The rest of the band backs her with a frenzied, yet
focused, sonic attack, giving serious punch to tracks like the breakneck
"Twisted (Everyday Hurts)" and the lumbering, scathing "We Love Your
Apathy." Stoosh finds Skunk Anansie still rag

This
album is absolutely amazing, I can't believe K's Choice CDs aren't
available in England because they are one of the most unusual and
talented bands I have ever come across! There is something for everyone

quiet (quiet little place/20,000 seconds) you will find something that
captures your soul! Poignant, funny, immensely talented music K's

Time
Capsule is an excellent, 18-track collection that offers a
comprehensive overview of the B-52's' career, from their kitschy
post-punk beginnings to their unexpected chart success in the early
'90s. Along the way, all the big songs — "Planet Claire," "Rock
Lobster," "Private Idaho," "Quiche Lorraine," "Summer of Love" (in its
original mix), "Channel Z," "Deadbeat Club," "Love Shack," "Roam," "Good
Stuff" — are here, making this an ideal choice

Ten
didn't begin selling in significant numbers until early 1992, after
Nirvana made mainstream rock radio receptive to alternative rock acts.
Soon, Pearl Jam outsold Nirvana, which wasn't surprising — Pearl Jam
fused the riff-heavy stadium rock of the '70s with the grit and anger of
'80s post-punk, without ever neglecting hooks and choruses; "Jeremy,"
"Evenflow," and "Alive" fit perfectly onto album rock radio stations
looking for new blood. Pearl Jam's aud

John Watts is from a family of singers. He progressed through school
and college bands inspired equally by the late 60s Trojan catalogue and
great maverick artists, from Alex Harvey to Lou Reed, Captain Beefheart
to Tom Waits and the ‘Hunky Dory’David Bowie. Watts moved to the point
where punk, art-wave and reggae crossed over. With college friend Steve
Skolnik and rhythm section Steve Liddle and Dave Graham, Watts landed a
record deal as Fischer-Z with United Artists in 1978 a

INXS Album: Welcome to Wherever You Are Released: 1992
Source: Atlantic Genre: pop rock/new wave Format:
eac.ape.309mb
Review: Although INXS needed to
experiment badly, their attempt at self-reinvention, Welcome to Wherever
You Are, didn't even come close to gaining commercial or critical
acceptance. From the start of the album, it's clear that INXS are out to
confuse the standard perceptions of the band; the first instrument on
the album is an Eastern-flavored horn. Special recording effects and
exotic rhythms and sounds are abundant on the album. Evidently, the pop
audience didn't care about INXS anymore, since nobody bought the album.
And that is a shame, since it is one of their strongest.

Emerging from the incipient post-punk London scene with a healthy
fascination for late-'70s Bowie (and in turn, for his own attraction to
Krautrock), the then-sextet kicked up a slightly monochromatic but still
attractive storm on their debut. Richard Butler's
Thin-White-Duke-after-smoking vocal rasp has a surprising appeal,
serving up a wry, slightly detached series of lyrics on life. The
members of the core band, meanwhile, had clearly honed their chops well
on-stage; Ashton's lead

This album, which held the #1 spot on
the UK chart for most of 1981 (though only reaching #44 on the US

of with the fantastic, upbeat & ecstatic 'Dogeatdog', a UK #4/US #15
smash. The song takes a while to get used to, but when you finally get
it, it will blow you away. 'Antmusic', a UK #2/US #14 single, was
Adam & the Ants big breakthrough, & the only single that was
able to reach a respectable chart pos
