After
cornering the hard rock market in 1975 with the international success
of Hair of the Dog, Nazareth surprised fans and listeners alike the
next year when they traded that style for a softer, more AOR approach
on Close Enough for Rock & Roll. The resulting album isn't as
successful as their previous one, but is a tuneful affair that offers
plenty of highlights for the Nazareth fan. This time out, they go for
an across-the-board experimental approach that covers everyt

The
Party Ain't Over Yet was titled to mark the celebrations surrounding
Status Quo's 40th anniversary -- and very well-titled it was. The first
decade of the new century had so far seen the band vacillate between
some genuinely powerful all-new albums, and a pair of covers

While Fantasy put Aldo on the map back in the
early 80's, this unbelievably talented
songwriter/singer/guitarist/bassist/keyboard player/drummer kept on
pumping out great tunes like Monkey On Your Back, All Night Long, Lay
Your Love on Me and Rumours of You (all included). W

Poor
Billy Squier: After four brilliant records, two with Piper and his
first two solos (he refers to Don't Say No in "Pursuit of Happiness."),
Squier fell victim to record company pressure and, like many '80s rock
stars, lacked the business savvy to survive in the big time (at least
he never coughed up an awful factory ballad smash). Out from under the
limelight, he hides behind nothing on this bare-bones effort: just
stark Squier and his guitar up-close and live. But

Billy
Squier's last charting album was the previous "Signs of Life" with his
huge hit Rock me Tonite. He continues his dance flavored Pop/Hard Rock
with less keyboards. A few songs were co-written by Freddie Mercury.
I'm sure, though, the chances of hearing anything off here on the radio
is about as likely as Woody Allen marrying someone who was alive when
this came out. Songs 1-3 set the tone for the album, lik
