The Bots – Self-Titled Album (2009) EAC RIP |

Genre: Punk Rock
Quote
Exceptional debut by teen brothers fully
engulfing themselves in punk rock and other unexpected genres.
Guitarist-vocalist was 16 and the drummer was 12 when this was recorded.
They are half Chinese and half Afro-Caribbean and based in Los Angeles.
Ten of the 11 songs are self-penned. Not everything works, but when
this duo connects with their inner punk gods, all is right with the
world.
Highlights include "These Feelings,” "I Like Your Style” and
"Old Days.”

This is a bootleg album, released by Frank Zappa without enhancement,
and also available as part of the Beat The Boots! boxed set. It begins
with an interview with Zappa in which he talks about the bootleg
problem. The rest of the disc is taken from a show at the Palladium in
New York on Halloween, 1981, a show that was broadcast on the radio and
on MTV, and therefore easy pick

Artist - The Damned Album - Phantasmagoria
Genre- post punk Year- 1985 format-eac/ape
Quote
For longtime Damned fans, "Phantasmagoria" and the follow-up album
"Anything" were not welcome creations from the band that started the
punk scene (they beat the Sex Pistols and Clash with the first record
contract).
By 1985, the band's sound was more gothic-pop than punk
(Fans of The Cure, Sisters of Mercy, or Clan of Xymox take note). The
album cover itself reflects the dark undertones found throughout many of
the songs. Plenty of synths, organs, harpsicords and a touch of wind
and howling here.
The German gothic/darkwave group Diary Of
Dreams began in the late '80s as the side-project of singer/songwriter
Aidan Hates, who at the time was also a member of the similarly-minded
Garden Of Delight. Hates collaborated with guitarist Alistair Kane on
Diary Of Dreams' first album, 1994's Cholymelan. Two years later, the
duo returned with End Of Flowers, which they released on Hates'
Accession label. 1997 saw the release of Bird Without Wings and
increasing popularity for the group; by 1998 they had released a

Artist: Radiohead Album: Kid A
Released: 2000 Source: EMI records Genre: Alternative Pop/
Rock Format: eac.ape.278mb
Instead of simply adding club beats or sonic collage
techniques, Radiohead strive to incorporate the unsettling "intelligent
techno" sound of Autechre and Aphex Twin, characterized by its
skittering beats and stylishly dark sonic surfaces, for Kid A. To their
immense credit, Radiohead don't sound like carpetbaggers, because they
share the same post-postmodern vantage point as their inspirations. As a
result, Kid A is easily the most successful electronica album from a
rock band — it doesn't even sound like a rock band, even if it does
sound like Radiohead. So, Kid A is an unqualified success? Well, not
quite. Despite its admirable ambition, Ki

Artist: The Damned Album: Music For Pleasure
Release: 1977/87 Label: Castle Quality: eac.ape.covers
Genre: Punk
Quote
Music for Pleasure is the second album by the
British punk rock band The Damned. It was produced by Nick Mason of
Pink Floyd and featured new member Lu Edmunds on guitar alongside Brian
James, as well as guest saxophonist Lol Coxhill. The album was the last
studio release to feature original guitarist Brian James. It saw the
band move into more complex song structures, while maintaining the punk
sound of their debut album.
Artist: Ministry Album: With Sympathy
Released: 1983 Genre: Dance-Rock/Alternative Pop Format:
eac.ape covers
Quote
Rather than the trademark bone-munching
industrial metal of later years, With Sympathy is panto-goth new wave
synth-pop that sounds less like the band chewing your pancreas and more
like Human League's surly little brother. Great stuff, then, for those
who allied themselves with Ally Sheedy's character in The Breakfast
Club. "Here We Go" grinds all over some electronic horns, "Work for
Love" stop-starts and shouts about like "Walk This Way" without all that
scary rap, and the whole record becomes a secret wea

You know how it goes: a band you never heard
of, you stumble across a previous release and it knocks your socks off.
Quick what else have they done? YES! They had an even earlier CD! You
snap that up and it's great.
And...then...you...wait...and...wait...for...the...next....cd.
Finally it's coming out and the anticipation builds. It comes in the
mail from Amazon and you're afraid to listen to it. Here's one of your
favorite bands and you've been burned before under this circumstance

In 1996 they recorded Paradise in Me. "Not an
Addict", the first single taken from this album, was very successful
and brought international fame. It can be argued that this single was
their most popular hit, and even 10 years later in 2006 receives fairly
good airplay in major markets. It was at this point that their drummer
Bart van der Zeeuw had been replaced by Koen Liekens, and bass players
continually changed. For the next year (1996-1997) they toured
supporting Alanis Morissette, who heard the

Since
Skylarking, each XTC album was carefully composed and crafted, and
Nonsuch is no different. Working with producer Gus Dudgeon (Elton John),
XTC crafted their most immaculate album to date with Nonsuch. A
measured and reflective record, recalling the Beach Boys more than the
Beatles, the album retains some of their late-'80s psychedelic
flourishes, but those have been integrated into an elaborate, lush pop
setting that falls somewhere between Skylarking and Oranges &
Lemons. While it lacks the thematic unity of Skylarkin
