It
can be (and often is) argued that Status Quo entered the 1980s as
little more than a parody of the l'il ol' boogie band from Butlins that
once so-dominated the U.K. charts. "Rocking All Over the World," almost
five-years-earlier, was the peak of their endeavors; everything since
then was little more than a parody (at best), or a warmed-up revival (at
most). 1+9+8+2 didn't alter that dour scenario. Dominated by a
relatively sincere recounting of "I Love Rock and Roll," and the "Dear
John" single that became the band's umpteenth hi

I'm almost inclined to describe "Ain't
Complaining" as a tribute album to icons of the 1980s. They borrow
several styles at the expense the one they're best at. When they do
perform in the manner to which we are accustomed they show little of the
old spirit. This is mostly glossy pop and so-called AOR American-style
rock. The most obvious resemblances are "One For The Money" (the "Miami
Vice" theme), "Another Shipwreck" (Cliff in his "Wired For Sound" phase)
and "I Know You're Leaving" (Phil Collins). "Every

Artist - Mungo Jerry Album - Naked From The
Heart Genre- glam rock Year- 2007 format-eac/ape

Mungo Jerry is one of rock's great
one-hit successes. Outside of England, they're known for exactly one
song, but that song, "In the Summertime," is a seasonal anthem known by
listeners who weren't even born when it was released. Mungo Jerry was a
solid blues outfit as well -- in fact, one suspects they were the kind
of blues band that purists Alexis Korner and Cyril Davies would have
loved, had they ever intersected -- and knew how to get the most out of
their jug band sound, which has helped them survive for three decades.

Woe betide the psychedelic groover who picked up the third album
by Status Quo, dreaming of further picturesque matchstick messages! A
mere three hits in a long three years had completely exhausted the
bandmembers' patience with the whimsy of yore, and their ears had long
since turned in other directions. It was the age, after all, of Canned
Heat's relentless boogie and Black Sabbath's blistered blues, and when
the Quo's first new single of 1970, the lazy throb of "Down the
Dustpipe," proved that the record-buying public wasn't averse

Slade may have never truly caught on with
American audiences (often narrow-mindedly deemed "too
British-sounding"), but the group became a sensation in their homeland
with their anthemic brand of glam rock in the early '70s, as they scored
a staggering 11 Top Five hits in a four-year span from 1971 to 1974
(five of which topped the charts). Comprised of singer/guitarist Noddy
Holder (born Neville Holder, June 15, 1946 in Walsall, West Midlands,
England), guitarist Dave Hill (born April 4, 1946, in Fle

Echoes In The Night was the album for all
those fans who had been waiting eight years for a Procol Harum reunion.
In addition to Gary Brooker's singing and keyboard work, it featured
Procol organist Matthew Fisher, lyricist Keith Reid, and drummer B.J.
Wilson. They didn't appear on every track, but when they got together,
notably on the title song (which also featured Eric Clapton), "Saw The
Fire," and especially the ambitious "Ghost T

Almost four years after their last studio
album, and two years after Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt agreed to
relaunch the hitherto moribund band, Status Quo bounced back with an
album that came as close as Christmas to restating the glories that most
fans believed were buried a decade earlier. The title track sets things
off in the way they mean to go on, a romping cover of a Bolland &
Bolland number that could not have been further from the Quo norm if it
had tried. But the band make it its own, and t

The
best-known alter ego of the Harry Vanda/George Young songwriting team
(the creative force behind the Easybeats), Flash and the Pan began
simply as a between-production project in 1976. By 1979, the project had
turned out a novelty hit with the single "Hey St. Peter." A second
single, "Down Among the Dead," also became a hit throughout Australia
and Europe, inspiring the release of the album Flash and the Pan.
American radio began playing import copies which led to a deal with E
