I
hadn't listened to Simple Minds in years since a lot of their radio
hits. I'm probably one of those music listeners, while keeping up with
many bands over the years that haven't dis-banded and I personally like,
I never really kept an eye on this band. I always like Kerr's voice so
it just came down to the music and if it was too poppy then it wasn't
for me. No matter. Anyway, this latest release that I downloaded is
quite a treat. I really don't think there's

Upon 1981's Small Change album, Prism fell
apart. After the band brought in singer Henry Small to replace Ron
Tabak, there were constant disagreements as to which route the group
should take: a harder rock & roll one or one that was geared more
toward radio pop. This led to a wholesale change within the lineup, and
only Small was left when Beat Street was recorded in 1983. Even with
Timothy B. Schmit helping out on vocals, Beat Street contains none of
Prism's past arena rock charm or

Artist: The Black Crowes Album: The
Southern Harmony and Musical Companion Released: 1992 Source:
American Genre: hard rock Format: eac.wav.387mb
Review: The addition of the more technically gifted guitarist
Marc Ford and a full-time organist gives the Black Crowes room to
stretch out on The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, perhaps the
band's finest moment. Using Rich Robinson's descending chord
progressions as a base, the band grooves its way through a remarkably
fresh-sounding collection of Faces-like rockers and ballads, tearing
into the material with flair and confidence and really coming into its
own as a top-notch rock & roll outfit. But while the focus is
undeniably on the band's musical chemistry, Southern Harmony also boasts
a strong collection of songs, striking a perfect balance betwee

Artist: David Bowie Album: Let's Dance

After
summing up his maverick tendencies on Scary Monsters, David Bowie aimed
for the mainstream with Let's Dance. Hiring Chic bassist Nile Rodgers
as a co-producer, Bowie created a stylish, synthesized post-disco dance
music that was equally informed by classic soul and the emerging new
romantic subgenre of new wave, which was ironically heavily inspired by
Bowie himself. Let's Dance comes tearing out of the date, propulsed by
the skittering "Modern Love," the seduct

Artist: Paul McCartney Album: Chaos and

Quiet though it may be, Paul
McCartney experienced something of a late-career renaissance with the
release of his 1997 album Flaming Pie. With that record, he shook off
years of coyness and half-baked ideas and delivered an album that, for
whatever its slight flaws, was both ambitious and cohesive, and it
started a streak that continued through the driving rock & roll
album Run Devil Run and its 2001 follow-up, Drivi

This is going to take a little explaining.
In 1981, when it was contracted to Elektra Records in the U.S., Queen
released an album called Greatest Hits (Elektra 564), which contained 14
songs that chronicled singles from 1973 to 1981. In 1990, Hollywood
Records acquired CD rights to Queen's catalog, by which time the Elektra
Greatest Hits had gone out of print on vinyl. Hollywood released
Classic Queen, a compilation that covered Queen's hits from 19

Like many old rock & rollers, Tom
Petty decided to get the band back together after taking a leisurely
stroll through his back pages. Prompted by his Runnin' Down a Dream
project -- a four-hour Peter Bogdanovich documentary supplemented by a
coffee table book -- Petty began thinking about his first band,
Mudcrutch, the Southern rock outfit he had before the Heartbreakers that
featured Tom Leadon, brother of Eagle Bernie, on lead guitar. Formed in
Florida in 1970, Mudcrutch ambled out to Los Angeles four years lat

Adults Only is the first album recorded by
Ray Dorset, also known as Mungo Jerry, with his German blues band. Some
of the songs are blues standards that have been in his set for several
years, others are new recordings of numbers from the Mungo back
catalogue, including 'I Just Can't Say Goodbye', originally on the 1977
album 'Ray Dorset & Mungo Jerry', an extended version of 'Open Up', a
worldwide hit for the band in 1972, recorded live in concert. Making
its first appearance on record is Dorset's infec

The
Scottish hard rock quartet Nazareth had a handful of hard rock hits in
the late '70s, including the proto-power ballad "Love Hurts." Formed in
1968, the band featured vocalist Dan McCafferty, guitarist Manny
Charlton, bassist Pete Agnew, and drummer Darrell Sweet. The band had
relocated to London by 1970, and they released their self-titled debut
album in 1971. Both Nazareth and 1972's Exercises received favorable
attention by British hard rockers, but it was 1973's Razamanaz
