There are so many live recordings of Hawkwind
on the market now that words like "best" or "essential live album"
simply have lost any signification. The double-CD set Yule Ritual
presents the better part of the seminal space rock group's performance
at the Astoria (London, England), the venue chosen for its annual
year-end show in 2000. The lineup consisted of Dave Brock, Richard
Chadwick, Ali, Tim Blake (also of Gong), Simon Hous

Any sci-fi fan with long memories probably
remembers those 1970's DAW paperback editions of Michael Moorcock's
sword-and-sorcery novels, with their images of heavily armored, very
muscular warriors, carrying large swords and standing against eerie
land- and starscapes. Take that imagery, throw in some terminology and

Hawkwind
was at a difficult transitional point in 1976 when the band recorded
Astounding Sounds, Amazing Music. Bassist Lemmy Kilmister had been fired
after a drug bust the year before, and the band had been forced to
scramble for a replacement, eventually hiring ex-Pink Fairies member
Paul Rudolph. What's more, the band had just released a series of
successful, landmark proto-heavy metal albums with Kilmister, and the
pressure to follow them up was sizable. It was fairl

I am not afraid to say that I really like
this one. It may not be the Yes of old days, but this is an excellent
disc, that I enjoy all the way through. Trevor Rabin is an excellent
guitarist/musician and his presence was a breath of fresh air which
bands need from time to time. The guitar synth solo of "Owner of a
Lonely Heart" was different way back then, and the song was simple yet
catchy. "Changes" and "Hold On" were excellent rock numbers with some
progressive moments but overall great songs. "Leave It

The Beatles Black Sabbath some kind of Alice Cooper/Bowie concept album
it is so right out of 1973-1975 had this come out in that era this would
be called a classic rock masterpiece now that it is 2008 this is just
weird although no band would dare attempt this [GOOD JOB DUDES]this is
one that will just go over todays youths heads and that is a shame
because this is a CLASSIC ALBUM OF ALL TIME e

Manfred Wieczorke (* 28. April 1946 in
