It's party time as a fantastic new release
from Matt Bianco hits my CD player! Hi Fi Bossanova is an intoxicating
cocktail of Brazilian musical styles blended with pure pop finesse. This
is fun in the sun!! Every track shines from the totally hip title track
Hi Fi Bossanova to the infectious The way I Like It. Matt Bianco
is, as always, the perfect party jump start. I can't wait for the next
instalment, perhaps a Live CD or even better a DVD of the band.

Diop, and the percussive drive of Samba Sock on boograboo (four large
African congas with bells) and Slaka on djembe. Reggie Washington (of
Steve Coleman renown) plays bass on four tracks, doubling the low end
with Big Royal Talamacus on

Artist: David Murray Album: Speaking In Tongues Released: 1999 Genre: Jazz Format: eac-ape.covers
Quote
Initially
an inheritor of an abstract/expressionist improvising style originated
in the '60s by such saxophonists as Albert Ayler and Archie Shepp,
David Murray eventually evolved into something of a mainstream
tenorist, playing standards with conventional rhythm sections. However,
Murray's readings of the old chestnuts are vastly different from
interpretations by bebop saxophonists of his generation. Murray's sound
is deep, dark, and furry with a wide vibrato -- reminiscent of such
swing-era tenorists as Ben Webster an

This
live disc is a very good chronicle of a classic hard rock band who were
very nearly at the top of their game. Granted, the concert that is
chronicled here took place very early in their career, and many of
their glory songs had yet to be written, let alone recorded. Still, the
band's performance and the quality of the material showed that this was
a group of musicians who were really deserving of bigger and better
things. Don't expect to find such classics as "Hair of th
